Pecan Store April 28th, 2009
With May quickly approaching and summer hot on its heels, soup season is almost officially over. So, why not celebrate National Pecan Month with one last hearty bowl of soup?
I found this recipe on FoodNetwork.com. It looks amazing, and got great reviews. Although it’s not exactly a pure pecan soup, it has a great flavor combination of sweet potatoes and buttered pecans. Just reading about this recipe makes me wish it was cold outside and I was bundled up with a bowl.
Check out the recipe here and then let me know how you like it. I’m definitely trying this one before its too warm outside.

I really want the Ebelskiver Filled-Pancake Pan. Every time I go to Williams-Sonoma, I have to check it out. I don’t know why I haven’t purchased it yet, but I think I have to now.
I’ve watched the video tutorial several times, but I think a cinnamon, brown sugar and pecan mixture would work better instead of the spiced apple filling that they demonstrate. Then you could smother it in all the maple syrup you wanted. It looks so easy to use and I would love to wake up on a Saturday or Sunday morning to filled pancakes.
Then again, there’s always the Nordic Ware Waffled Pancake Pan… I am a huge fan of bananas and pecans over waffles.

What’s more appropriate than holding a toast to National Pecan Month with pecan ale?
Abita Brewing Co., located in Louisiana, has come up with Pecan Harvest Ale. The ale, which uses toasted Louisiana pecans, can be served with both red meat and seafood, but the site also recommends trying it with gouda cheese and, of course, nuts.
Although I haven’t tasted this beer personally, Beeradvocate.com posted user reviews and scored a B- overall, which is considered a worthy drink to the site. Most comments mentioned that the nutty flavor did not taste artificial and it was surprisingly creamy with a slight earthy tone.
I could definitely toast National Pecan Month with this one but I could also see it as the perfect beer for fall with all the warmth and nuttiness in it.

Celebrate National Pecan Month with us this April by chowing down on the “All American Nutâ€!
According to The National Pecan Sheller’s Association, on April 6, 2001, pecans were “proclaimed in the U.S. Congressional Record, and National Pecan Month was established.â€
Although this is a fairly new celebration, the natural goodness of the pecan has been around since the very beginning. Whether you choose to snack on pecans for your health or just for the taste, it’s our month to snack away!
