The World’s Largest Pecan Pie
Pecan Store July 9th, 2009
Ever craved a piece of pecan pie so badly you thought you could eat the whole pie? What if that pie weighed in at over 35,000 pounds?
For 25 years, the people of Okmulgee, Oklahoma got together every June to celebrate the annual pecan festival with games, rides and concerts in the town’s historic square, and it soon became tradition to bake a pecan pie over 40 feet in diameter. Even though the festival is no longer held as of this year, they still hold the Guinness Book of World Records title for the largest pecan pie. Previous years at the festival have also produced the world’s largest pecan cookie, world’s largest pecan and ice cream party and the world’s largest pecan brownie.
